In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!” Luke 1:26-28 NLT
Can you even imagine? I can't. I think I would be speechless just like Mary was at first, but then when she hears what the angel says she doesn't doubt, not for one second. “For the word of God will never fail.” Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her. Luke 1:37-38 NLT
But don't miss the words of Gabriel " the word of God will never fail." Do we cling tight to those promises? When things get hard do we turn to God or away from Him? Do we try to figure it out on our own or do we trust that the words of God never fail?
Mary did and she didn't hesitate. Look at all she endured in her life being the mother of Jesus, not just the fact of him being her child, but also the Messiah, which she completely couldn't understand at the time. In the Bible there are so many promises that God makes toward us. He promises to never leave us, He promises to go before and behind us and have His hand upon us, He promises all things work together for good according to His purposes. He promises to be near the brokenhearted and those crushed in spirit.
I've found lately that it helps me to declare things out loud. It takes it from my head to my heart and for me it just works. The truth I'm standing in right now is God is trustworthy (Proverbs 3:5-6). This is what Mary believed and lived and sometimes, too, each of us need this reminder.

So, what promise of Jesus is the Holy Spirit reminding you that you need to say out loud and believe like Mary?
